Fincher shows us this war in reverse fantasy genre in bold fashion with a slow motion tracking shot by soldiers slaughtered springing back into action, as explosions are sucked out of the earth. It an idea that has been pilfered freely from a famous sequence in Kurt Vonnegut time-obsessed anti-war classic Slaughterhouse-Five, but, unlike that its use in the novel, Fincher appropriation of not to include anything particularly deeply about the story tell and neither clock back.
